Center for the Developing Mind Foundation wants everyone to know that...

Every 20 minutes, a child is diagnosed with autism, a life-long neurological disorder that impairs a child's communication, behavior, learning and social skills.

» Autism is the fastest-growing developmental disorder. Today autism occurs in 1% of the population in America, that's 1 out of 110 children. Four out of five are boys. A diagnosis of autism affects the entire family.

» Statistics suggest that autism is growing at a rate of 10% to 17% per year. At this rate, there will be over 4 million Americans affected in the next decade.

» The economic cost for a family is overwhelming. Families can spend up to $100,000 per year for a child with autism. Most insurance companies don't cover the cost of early intervention or specialized programs. Children with autism often require 30 to 40 hours of intensive one on one therapy, few families can afford this level of care.
